Regulated Marijuana Business License Renewal

How to Renew a
Marijuana Business License

MED Regulated Marijuana Business Licenses must be renewed each year, except the Transporter License which is valid for two years. The MED Office will send an email notification 90 days prior to the expiration date of the license to the business contact email address provided by the licensee. We strongly encourage owners to submit their renewal application packets as soon after its receipt as possible.

ATTENTION:

Pursuant to 2019 legislative changes under Senate Bill 19-224, a licensee must apply for renewal before the expiration date of their license. Prior law provided a "grace period" for business licensees to submit renewal applications within 90 days following their expiration date. However, as of January 1, 2020, statute and rules will no longer provide a 90-day "grace period" for renewal submission. Therefore, absent a licensee's submission and acceptance of a complete renewal application prior to a license expiration date, a license is immediately invalid upon expiration. An expired license will not be renewed or reinstated. A regulated marijuana business with an expired license must submit a new business license application with required fees and receive required approvals in order to resume the exercise of any license privileges.
