History
- In 2010, HB10-1284 required the State Licensing Authority (SLA) to provide reporting for medical marijuana businesses no later than Jan. 15 to the Colorado General Assembly and Joint Budget Committee.
- In 2017, HB-1137 repealed the statutory reporting mandate from the SLA, and any data related to fines, revocations, and suspensions collected after 2017 are included in Final Administrative Actions that can be found on the MED FAA webpage.

- To demonstrate proper control and regulation of state-level marijuana production, the Marijuana Policy Group (MPG) was established in 2014. The MPG worked to determine the demand for marijuana in Colorado and to help design key regulatory framework. The MPG prepared several market size and demand reports from 2014 to 2020.

- In conjunction with the Business Research Division at the University of Colorado-Boulder, the market reports transitioned to the Data Dashboard around 2020. The dashboard uses data from the inventory tracking system, METRC, and other publicly available data and is updated quarterly.
The Marijuana Enforcement Division created mid-year and annual update reports from 2014 to 2020 that contained licensing, cultivation, investigation, and testing data, among other things. In 2020, much of that information was moved to the Data Dashboard.
- In 2013, HB13-1317 required the State Licensing Authority (SLA) to provide reporting for retail marijuana businesses no later than April 1 to the Colorado General Assembly and the Joint Budget Committee.
- In 2017, HB17-1137 repealed the statutory reporting mandate for the SLA.
- In 2021, HB21-1216 required the SLA to issue a feasibility report to the General Assembly on or before January 3, 2022, analyzing the feasibility of changing Regulated Marijuana's designation from Medical to Retail at Medical and Retail Cultivations and at Medical and Retail Manufacturers.
- In 2022, SB22-120 required the Department of Revenue to submit a feasibility report to the General Assembly analyzing the feasibility of regulating kratom products, kratom processors, and kratom retailers.
- In 2023, SB23-271 required the Executive Director of the Department of Revenue to submit a report to the General Assembly analyzing the feasibility of establishing a standing committee to evaluate, determine, and make recommendations regarding cannabinoids safety and intoxication profiles. The MED worked with a research team at the University of Colorado-Boulder to create this feasibility report.
