Cannabis Sustainability Work Group

The Marijuana Enforcement Division facilitates the meetings of the Cannabis Sustainability Work Group, whose mission is to advance sustainability in the cannabis industry through policy recommendations, education, best practices, and dialogue between key stakeholders.
Public work group members represent various stakeholders, including cannabis business owners, consultants and contractors, state and local government representatives, and sustainability and policy experts. These meetings are open to the public (see information below about how to apply to the work group or join the meetings as a public attendee).
Each member of the work group participates in one of four committees:
- Executive
- Engagement
- Policy
- Education

Jan. 9, 2025: The CSWG Policy Committee has asked the MED to share this Cannabis Packaging & Labeling Sustainability Survey that asks product manufacturers about packaging decisions and the importance of sustainability in those decisions. (This is a CSWG survey, so MED will not have access to the results.) |

This guide was compiled by members of the Cannabis Sustainability Work Group and is intended to provide best practices for the sustainable operation of cannabis businesses. The MED did not draft or revise any part of the guide.
